Radon mapping of municipalities located in potential risk zones in Belgium

The project aims at establishing radon risk maps of the radon prone area of the Ardennes comprising 32 municipalities. Radon risk maps are constructed for each municipality.
The radon risk map is based on:

  • indoor radon measurements collected during radon measurement campaigns organized within each municipality
  • soil-gas radon mapping performed on basis of one measurement per km², coupled with soil permeability measurements
  • indoor/soil-gas control measurements within each municipality.

The final radon risk maps are constructed based on the combination of soil-gas and indoor radon measurements.
An ArcGIS database is constructed containing all measurements as well as the background information: geological maps and information.
